safeguarding nebraska farms

Nebraska's economic strength lies within it's farms, sown through the hands of hard-working families, like mine, for generations. But now more than ever, farms are in jeopardy.

Trump's new policy scraps federally funded climate hubs--organizations that track weather patterns and provide data to farmers for planting and harvest--invaluable information that is going away. Trump's cancellation of USDA and USA grants are also having a profoundly negative impact on farmers. Not to mention the uncertainty that tariffs have caused and rising interest rates that affect the loans that farmers use to run their business.

These policies are anti-farm; they undermine Nebraska farmers' efforts and make it easier for corporations to take over. I will fight tirelessly for our farms--against policies that erode our state's legacy and weaken the lifeblood of our economy.

Healthcare

Access to medical care is a fundamental human right. The Affordable Care Act, though imperfect, was the first step toward reforming a broken healthcare system.

Now, with Trump's big beautiful bill, many Nebraskans will lose access to Medicaid benefits, including children. These benefits are paid directly to medical providers (not to patients) to lessen costs associated with receiving healthcare. With the bill's cuts to nutritional assistance many Nebraskans will be affected, including children.

This is a gross misstep for our state's most vulnerable that will surely have devastating consequences. I will support legislation that expands health and nutritional benefits for those who need it most.

War in Ukraine

Putin's war of aggression against the people of Ukraine is a violation of international sovereignty to say nothing of the abuses of human rights that have occurred at the hands of the Russian war machine and their proxies.

Slava Ukraini.

Immigration

Our country's story is rooted in the history of immigration: people from all walks of life converging to form a nation of unique cultures, traditions, talent, and economic strength. I support the US Citizenship Act, which prioritizes smart border control investments while addressing the causes of migration and provides a pathway to citizenship.

But we have more work to do. Our valuable federal dollars need to be spent on removing legitimate threats like human smuggling and the drug trade, through due process, instead of the current one-size-fits-all approach which in many cases, is unconstitutional and inhumane.

reproductive choice

The Supreme Court ruled in 2022 that states would have to decide their own laws regarding abortion. In 2024, 55% of Nebraskans voted to keep abortion legal up to 12 weeks with exceptions for rape, incest, and medical emergency after the first trimester. I support the will of the voters without further restrictions to the law.

LGBTQ+

Our colleagues, neighbors and family members are not the enemy regardless of their sexual orientation or identity. The persecution of our LGBTQ+ community must stop.

Veterans

We have a duty to provide for those who have selflessly served our country in the armed forces. From timely healthcare to employment opportunities to affordable housing, our veterans deserve the best we can give them. Any efforts to remove funding to support our veterans is nothing short of a betrayal. America can do better than cuts to VA benefits like those in Trump's Big Beautiful Bill.

retirement security

I strongly oppose turning Social Security and Medicare over to the private sector and will help ensure seniors' benefits are not stripped away.

protecting the 2nd amendment

The right to keep and bear arms should be preserved and is an integral part of our national identity for better or worse. Common sense regulations are backed by an overwhelming majority of Americans, and would produce a win-win scenario: guarantee of the 2nd amendment for future generations, and a reduction in gun violence for safer communities.

Education

High-quality education is something every student in America should have the opportunity to receive regardless of learning ability, race, or income. Education is an important issue for me--my mother was a public school teacher and I'm a parent of two teens and regularly oversee homework and class projects. I look back on my education experience and am proud to have been a part of Nebraska's public schools as well as the University.

The Trump administration is determined to dismantle the Department of Education which, since 1979, helped teachers and schools in low-income areas, managed student loans, protected children with disabilities and played a key roll in enforcing civil rights protections.

I stand with Nebraska schools by supporting initiatives that ensure safe and nurturing learning environments inclusive of all students, especially those with disabilities.

Renewable energy

have worked in the renewable energy sector for nearly ten years. The majority of Americans support renewable energy and recognize that climate change is an existential threat to our safety and national security. Developing solar projects and sustainable energy solutions throughout our state, both big and small, will ensure our public power system is robust and resilient. In congress, I will advocate for renewable energy legislation that benefits our state and is fair to both consumers and businesses.

election Integrity

Our democracy is founded on the basic principle that every American has an equal voice: one person = one vote. Unfortunately, with the Supreme Court decision Citizens United, a small amount of uber-wealthy (billionaires) can use their money to unfairly tip the scales in their favor--away from the votes of everyday Americans. I support election reform to repeal Citizens United and safeguard voters' First Amendment Rights, no matter their race or creed.
