Economy
An economy that works for ALL Nebraskans, not just special interest groups. I plan to tackle the affordability crisis on multiple fronts: 1. I will work to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and tie it to the rate of inflation so that workers can be have a shot at a living wage. 2. Tax the rich, with a common sense proposal to create an origination tax for any asset or stock received in lieu of salary valued in excess of $250,000 3. Nebraskans deserve to know the social security system we've been paying into will be there for the next generation. That is why I support lifting the cap on social security tax currently limited to only $400,000 of taxable income.
Healthcare
I believe access to healthcare is a human right. We are the only wealthy industrialized nation that doesn't guarantee healthcare for our citizens forcing people to only seek care in the emergency room, putting tremendous strain on our care facilities and hospitals. I am committed to passing Medicare for All. By creating a public option which covers all U.S. citizens we can dramatically reduce costs and improve health outcomes. Medicare for all incentivizes preventative care contributing to catching illnesses early and hopefully prevent them all together. I am also committed to reinstating the Medicaid and CHIP benefits that were cut in the big ugly bill, as a projected 11.8 million people will lose their health insurance - a catastrophic, result, especially for rural areas.
Farming
Farmers are facing unprecedented challenges from input costs, big ag monopolies, and the global trade war. Working at my Grandparent's orchard and later on my Uncle's ranch taught me that farms are the lifeblood of our state's economy. Right now, they are being threatened by tariffs and insuffiecient policies. Every producer I've spoken to says the same thing, and it's heartbreaking: they can't make a profit, they are in massive debt, and worse still, big ag interests have made it impossible for them to repair their own equipment. 1. I am committed to passing the remaining articles of the farm bill. 2. I support 'Right to Repair' legislation. 3. On Day 1, I plan to reassert congressional authority over tariffs by moving to constrain the President's emergency powers.
Veterans
Our service members and military families have selflessly served our country. Nothing short of an ironclad commitment to them and their welfare is acceptable to me. In Washington, I will immediately take steps to restore funding cut by the One Big Beautiful Bill and assert Congressional authority over the executive branch to ensure the funds are used to care for our men and women in uniform.
immigration
Immigration in America is broken. It shouldn't take decades and tens of thousands of dollars to become a citizen... There was support in the house and the senate for the bipartisan immigration bill before, then candidate Trump got involved and scuttled the bill. We need to bring that bill back up for a vote and get it done. I will block funding for ICE enforcement until a bipartisan immigration bill has passed.
education
Nebraska has one of the highest performing public school systems in the country, because we prioritize our children's future and the needs of our teachers. But the DOGE cuts to the Department of Education have dismantled the foundation we've built, by removing funding for special education, gap funding for rural districts and training for teachers. I support our educators and public education. I will not allow public dollars to be funneled into private schools.
2 Amendment
ND
Having grown up in rural Nebraska, I recognize the relevance and need for Americans to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights. To ensure this freedom is not abridged in response to another tragedy, I support comprehensive background checks and red flag laws. By keeping guns out of the hands of individuals who are a known threat to public safety, we preserve this right for law abiding citizens and future generations.
Energy
I've worked for the last decade in domestic energy to strengthen our state's grid and lower energy costs for working families. My plan to secure the future of our grid is three-fold 1. Make the most of the natural resources overhead and beneath our feet by developing clean energy. 2. Support legislation which allows for and encourages distributed generation behind the meter for residential and small business customers. 3. Creating incentives to encourage utilities to retire, carbon intensive generation.
